3-man piano version of my tango composition “La Terraza”

About the composition La Terraza:
La Terraza was originally composed in Buenos Aires during my round-the-world journey with the project Global Compositions. I recorded myself three times on grand piano and had two amazing Argentine musicians add violin and bandoneon to the track. La Terraza has since been performed many times LIVE with Body Rhythm Factory in this 3-man piano version. The piece has also been arranged as an extended 11-minute version for Trio + Symphony Orchestra titled “La Grande Terraza.”

About the video:
This video with Body Rhythm Factory was recorded in the old Radio House on Rosenørns Allé, now DKDM. We filmed several full run-throughs of the piece, and afterwards I edited parts of different takes together into this video. So whenever the video cuts, it’s actually switching between different takes. Since we didn’t record with a click track and the performances include quite a bit of improvisation, it turned into a bit of a puzzle to make everything fit together.  But a fun puzzle, and I’m really happy with the result. The alternative would have been to use a “one take,” but I thought it would be nice to include both wide tripod shots and some closeups and facial expressions in the video.
